  • Life is a bed of roses (just watch out for the thorns!)
    Appreciate nature whilst documenting or drawing inspiration from her form. We’ll start with measured drawing and lessons on tone. We’re not expecting perfection but we will help you find your route in: whether widely expressive or insanely perfect. We’re here to get you started.


  • Ceramic sculpture (5 Days)

    During the week we’ll examine contemporary ceramics and various handbuild techniques to create a variety of structures and forms from free-standing figures to complex abstract forms and methods to give your ceramic pieces the edge. We’ll show you how to build or prepare your piece for kiln firing as well as covering various glazing techniques.

    Students will be encouraged to develop their own unique approach or style. There will be plenty of hands-on practice and individual student support.

  • Learn about the special considerations and how to handbuild sculptural forms which can be fired and glazed in the kiln.  Suitable for absolute beginners and for those wishing to explore figurative or abstract approaches.

    During the 2 day course we’ll cover tools, equipment and methods for different  sculptural builds plus the main handbuild techniques and methods to achieve a variety of forms and surface decoration.

    We’ll inspire with ideas and will encourage students to develop design concepts and to try out different approaches throughout the 2 days.

  • This course covers the design and build of clay animal figures for kiln firing. The emphasis is on style development and construction for firing. We'll cover contemporary approaches including basic to advanced construction, modelling and texturing techniques.

  • Working from a model, you’ll be coached in the art of clay modelling to scale. We can make the whole process a lot easier with hints, tips and instruction. Although we’ll be taking you through classical approaches we don’t mind if your piece ends up  more “Homar” than human.

  • Explore the potential of this exciting and accessible print making process which utilises recycled card to create blocks basic materials and found materials to create images that explore surface and texture. Highly recommended.

  • Life Painting and drawing skills 
    for all levels of ability

    The course is suitable for beginner to advanced level students and has been carefully structured  to support individual needs and requirements: from the basics in anatomical drawing, to lessons in flesh tones and colour mixing to contemporary approaches. We offer the freedom to respond to the figure in a personal manner and offer creative directional support if required.


  • Explore different ways to create handmade prints without a press. Ideal for continuing at home with inexpensive materials and equipment.

  • Got a handle on it?  Don't stop there.

    Whether you're an absolute beginner or someone whose maybe dabbled a few times, this course will lift the lid on a range of ceramic techniques and push you further with classic or experimental project builds: from teapots, to clay bird houses, dinner sets or expressive sculptures. This is an exciting course not to be missed.
