With our teaching approach you can expect to get your hands dirty and sculpting in the first 10 minutes. We’ll teach simple handbuild slabbing and coil building techniques as well as simple surface decoration.
In this session, you'll start with a small and progress to either a cup, vase, jug or tea light. Maybe more! At the end decide if you would actually like your pieces fired and glazed, additional cost of £5/pot payable on the day, or for £10 plan a time in the month to return to paint your piece with underglazes back in our studio. Third option, clay recycle bucket and no questions asked.
Please note Should you with to have your pieces kiln fired, glazes may vary from samples shown. Pieces will be ready for collection approximately 4 weeks later as pieces need to dry out thoroughly which can take up to 2 weeks before going into the kiln for the first firing. They then need to be matched up for colour choice and dipped before firing to 1200 degrees. Depending on the volume we may need to fire in different kiln loads – each process requires kilns to be fired up top temperatures and then cooled down. Final pieces then need to be sorted once again ready for collection. Occasionally pieces do not survive but we try to ensure that as many as possible do.
