Want it all?
Have it all with a creative mix course.
We know our taster courses look great and are popular which is why we’ve developed a week course full of them. This is a great format for anyone wishing to trial different art and craft activities or someone who simply wants it all. Activities include painting, drawing, ceramics, wheel thrown pottery, mosaic, print making and sculpture.
Life is a bed of roses (just watch out for the thorns!)
Appreciate nature whilst documenting or drawing inspiration from her form. We’ll start with measured drawing and lessons on tone. We’re not expecting perfection but we will help you find your route in: whether widely expressive or insanely perfect. We’re here to get you started.
Learn about the special considerations and how to handbuild sculptural forms which can be fired and glazed in the kiln. Suitable for absolute beginners and for those wishing to explore figurative or abstract approaches.
During the 2 day course we’ll cover tools, equipment and methods for different sculptural builds plus the main handbuild techniques and methods to achieve a variety of forms and surface decoration.
We’ll inspire with ideas and will encourage students to develop design concepts and to try out different approaches throughout the 2 days.
This course covers the design and build of clay animal figures for kiln firing. The emphasis is on style development and construction for firing. We’ll cover contemporary approaches including basic to advanced construction, modelling and texturing techniques.
Working from a model, you’ll be coached in the art of clay modelling to scale. We can make the whole process a lot easier with hints, tips and instruction. Although we’ll be taking you through classical approaches we don’t mind if your piece ends up more “Homar” than human.
This 5-day course is suitable for anyone who wishes to develop processes of figurative to abstract painting and drawing methods.
During the week you’ll be taught by presentation, technical demonstration and hands on technical training as well as through a series of exercises.
Got a handle on it? Don’t stop there.
There’s more to handbuild than frocks and Perry.
Whether you’re an absolute beginner or someone whose maybe dabbled a few times, this course will lift the lid on a range of ceramic techniques and push you further with classic or experimental project builds: from teapots, to clay bird houses, dinner sets or expressive sculptures. This is an exciting course not to be missed.
