For those new to mosaic art this 1 day course will include theory and tile cutting practice followed by work on a coaster or placemat. As well as learning how to cut glass and ceramic tiles safely you’ll also be coached in planning and creating you’re own small mosaic project.
You’ll learn about:
- materials, substrates, adhesives & grouting for best practice
- cutting and shaping of glass and ceramic tiles
- tools, equipment and suppliers
- health and safety
- studio set-up for best practice
- different design methods
- hints and tips
- tile cutting
Continuing students can continue work on existing project or plan up an execute a new project. Both new and continuing students receive creative directional support which sets us apart from larger institutions.
Basic materials are included on this course. A small selection of specialist tesserae will be available for purchase should these be required. We’ll also send a letter upon booking to advise other items that you may wish to collect and bring to the class, for example, you are welcome to bring along your favourite piece of broken crockery to incorporate into a mosaic, or some old placemats you wish to breath new life into..
