This may all lend itself to a “ break and make “ session of craft where something is destroyed in order to make it.
Who would have thought there would be a posh word for putting broken crockery together. Well there is, ‘Picasiette’, and we teach it here at the Margate studio.
If you have an ugly piece of crockery hovering between charity shop, birthday gift or landfill there is yet another alternative… A Go Create mosaic class specialising in picasiette mosaic. Who knew having so much fun breaking ceramic, making pretty designs and giving unique gifts could also save the planet, (well at least save the trip to a landfill site)
You may not have known we’re proud of our sustainability focussed classes and this one is great because it’s bit of everything: relief, drawing, colour theory, composition…all disguised as having a laugh. Plus we’ll throw in the relief of using a hammer to break something..legally!!!!! Just keep away from our kitchen as we serve free tea and coffee refreshments.
Picassiette can be used to upcycle furniture or to create triviates, to decorate paths and to create quiry pictures and wall hangings.
So think of us the next time you’re clearing out any crockery, or if you’re looking for something you can honestly say you magically made out of a plate, teapot or cup. If you’re going to break your daily routine come to our studio..here’s a hammer.
