No experience needed. Fun, excitement and support from highly experienced tutors guaranteed. Suitable for beginners and returners.
This class combines instruction and support for absolute beginners and making with scope with those with handbuild experience to realise personal projects with support where needed.
Beginners are shown the main hand building techniques pinch pot, coil and slab as well as how to make cups, bowls, vases or small ornaments and sculptures. We’ll cover topics such as surface decoration, joining techniques, moulds, how to make spouts and handles as well as topics specific to kiln fired pottery including glazing. Participants at all levels will also be encouraged to use a sketchbook to develop design concepts or ideas and will be coached in design development and sketchbook skills.
Please note that these sessions are kept to a maximum of 8 students to ensure plenty of individual attention. Please also note that there is an additional charge for the firing and glazing of pots which is calculated by weight.
