Learn how to make luscious, moisturising soaps from traditional oils, exotic butters and essential oils in this hands-on workshop. We’ll cover the  equipment,  techniques  and natural ingredients to make a soap base from scratch as well as the use of herbs and botanical that can be used safely in your soaps.  Once the basic soap base has been created we’ll show you how to vary the  scent, colour or soap style to create your own custom make.

There is no prior experience required just a willingness to experience the joy of creating your own soaps from scratch.  This course is perfect if you simply wish to make a couple of batches a year for your own use or a first step towards setting up your own soap business.

This workshop is ideal for students who wish to progress from melt and pour glycerine based soap making to making soap bases from scratch.  Traditional soap making does require the use of dangerous chemicals and 6 weeks are needed for the soap to cure (i.e. your soaps cannot be used instantly). We’ll be focusing on the cold pressed method of making a base soap from scratch – this is the popular method of soap making in the UK.  This workshop is idea for those wishing to develop more advanced soap making skills, or those wishing to control the ingredients that go into their soap base.

Making soap bases from scratch can be tricky for beginners and batches can be spoilt. This course is run from a professional soap maker who will take students through safe soap making whilst passing on all important hints and tips for your own safe practice at home. There will also be a brief discussion on the steps needed to sell soap however this is covered more thoroughly in our advanced cold pressed soap pressed soap making course.
