Making Margate
2023 Summer Art Competition
Submit your work today for your chance to win prizes and to exhibit in our gallery To celebrate the launch of junior art classes in Margate, Go Create is running a Summer Art Competition which is open to children and young adults. Go Create classes and courses are aimed at inspiring the next generation of artists, craftworkers and designers and is led by artist/educator Kirsty Kennedy.
This years Summer Art Competition theme is Making (Make in Margate) Margate. We would like to see artworks inspired by all the good and bad Margate has to offer. Margate has such a fascinating history: first bathing resort, prototype to better pier design, not to mention the Hollywood and TV cred of today. About time us locals started recording some memories before it changes again.
Sketches, paintings, illustrations, a small models, sculpture, photograph or short film. Dreamland rides, reinvented playground or even your own fashion collection inspired by the coast. You decide. You may not have all the making skills or resources to bring your creation to life but we would love to see your sketches and physical models.
The competition closes at midnight on 01.09.23. For details on how to enter see below. We’ve got art prizes and some creative workshops to help improve your art skills and give you the confidence to design anything. Kirsty Kennedy whose own oils, shown above, are inspired by people at leisure on Margate Sands, and ever changing compositions of colour and form.
That’s not all!
We have also got an artist talk, guided walk plus a series of free workshops to give away to young people in CT9. Please visit our facebook page for more information.
