Participants are continually surprised at how much they progress on this intense introductory course.

On day 1, the tutor drawing basic will be covered to ensure that each student is confident and has sufficient skills to sketch and plan up a painting. Students are helped to identify and play to their developing strengths.  On day one we’ll be working from still life on a small board but on day two  participants can choose a landscape or painting of their choice. In the afternoon the tutor will  cover acrylic basics whilst injecting some professional hints and tips to help beginners to produce more sophisticated work.

On day 2, participants will be encouraged to work on a painting of their choice – this can be a still life or work from a photograph – more guidance is given upon booking.  Ccreative directional and technical support will be available on both days.

The course includes basic material including small boards for day 2. If you prefer to work on stretched canvases on day two, we do have a selection which are available for purchase during the course, or feel free to bring some canvases along.

More experienced students may wish to bring  reference material to show the type of painting style that they are interested in or photographic reference for a landscape or seascape should they wish to tackle this rather than a still life on day 2.

Teas and coffees will be provided but please bring a packed lunch.

Participants will need to dress for mess.
