Get stuck in.
Be a part of art.
This is a hands-on course that will get you exploring sculptural form, materials and processes from the start. It assumes no previous knowledge of working with sculpture.
We’ll start the week easy with some clay modelling and gradually introduce a repertoire of new materials including wire, plaster, salvaged materials or found objects whilst also demonstrating processes such as modelling, relief sculpture, casting, joining materials and discussing technical considerations and health and safety. After short demonstrations there will be a chance for students to get hands on experience with the techniques and to apply to their own creations.
As well as offering practical experience, the course will include a bit of theory to build knowledge of techniques and a growing a growing appreciation of contemporary sculpture. We’ll also encourage sketchbook use and work on specific projects towards the end of the week. We’ll help inspire less experienced students
During the course you’ll be able to work on existing ideas or develop and realise new ideas from initial sketch to final realisation.
