Absolute beginners will be guided and encouraged to work in pencil whereas more experienced students are welcome to trial a variety of mediums. Students will receive feedback to support development and to inspire approaches. Although there is an emphasis on the teaching of formal skills, the tutor will help to identify natural abilities. Drawing can be over-refined and it is important to identify when a natural style is charming, where a student’s drawing style is naturally expressive style or where a more realist approach should be coached when polish is desired. Regardless of style, core topics such as composition and tone can enhance the end result. This course is therefore led by a highly experienced art coach who can respond to individual student abilities and strengths.
Students will leave the course feeling more confident to pick up a pencil and to draw at home. Or inspired to take drawing or painting as a long standing hobby.
Teas and coffees will be served at regular intervals but please bring a packed lunch.
Please bring a pencil set, rubber and a drawing pad. More advanced should are welcome to bring along their preferred drawing mediums.
