Our courses are designed to ensure that participants get the maximum learning from their training course and make rapid progress throughout the course of the week. Group sizes are small- no more than 8/tutor – we coach rather than merely deliver learning – putting our drawing and painting courses in a different league.
We aim to support individuals in recognising and beginning to develop a personal style playing to their natural strengths (whether that be high realist or successfully naive).
In the mornings we’ll cover painting and drawing topics away from the model. We’ll cover the fundamentals: proportion, perspective, composition, anatomy, line, gesture, tone, colour and line which can then be applied to the model. We’ll start with traditional approaches and swiftly move on to more experimental approaches and creative risk taking as the week progresses. We’ll spend some time each morning to look at the work of other artists and contemporary approaches to help inspire new ways of thinking. Participants are encouraged to use this knowledge as a basis through which to develop their own style, using a wide range of mediums and approaches.Tutors are experienced and aim to provide clear, fun classes in an enagaging format.
In the afternoons students will work from the model. Experienced tutors will also be on hand to offer creative directional support if required and at the end of each day students will be encouraged to show and critique their work,
