How to get ahead.

Working from a model, you’ll be coached in the art of clay modelling to scale. We can make the whole process a lot easier with hints, tips and instruction. Although we’ll be taking you through classical approaches we don’t mind if your piece ends up  more “Homar” than human.

This workshop covers classical sculpture skills together with contemporary approaches, working with clay, how to measure and observe.

We’ll cover special considerations for preparing work to be kiln fired which will take approximately 3-4 weeks to be fired. All pieces must dry out completely before the first firing which can sometimes take up to 2 weeks. Students will need to arrange to collect their final fired pieces. The cost of materials and firing is included in the price.

Please note that students often move around the room when working on the head in order to see the model/features from different angles.

What to wear:
You’ll need to wear loose comfortable clothing and flat shoes.
